6 posts | 42 Posted on 02/07/2006 at 02:22 I prefer Sonar, it is simpel and productive. On the other side, it doe use a great deal of the cpu. I keep falling back on the simplissity of the programm. It is so easy to use. For me at least Frank

6 posts | 43 Posted on 03/03/2006 at 00:43 hands down i like pro - tools when i am dealing with vocals and real instruments, running midi on pro-tools is very good but i like the way logic uses midi just a little bit better

3 posts | 48 Posted on 11/29/2006 at 21:53 Well,I might as well put my 2 cents in,so I don't feel so left out.Hi everybody,my name is Andre D.(get on the floor).I have spent a lot of my time living in Germany for the past 15 years.8 years as a radio announcer, interviews, making radio spots, jingles, recording and performing.3 record deals and I'm still not famous. But I'll tell ya,it's a hell of a lotta fun trying to get there.Been in many mastering studios for over 12 years. And I must say being creative takes a lot of experience and knowhow.Choosing the right tools and instruments are essential.Ear and brain coordination make great hits.In Germany there are studios everywhere and some very talented guys working them.I've learned so much. It's a pretty fun country aside from crappy politics. The preference in studios was logic for it's dynamics. But now everybody and there mothers are using Cubase SX.Mac I believe has bought logic out and will no longer be making software for PC's.Meaning no more instrument integration with new sounds.Old users are now stuck and must convert over to something else.Learning how a sequencer works and where your limits are with it are very important when you wanna be creative.Being rhythmic wouldn't hurt either.Hmmm.Reason is wonderful, but like all programs, you're going to have to figure some things out before you can start recording music.Among many other things.I'm using Cubase SX with a M-Audio 192 soundcard.A master keyboard with a midi out connected to my PC.And a eurorack that I brought from Germany with me connected to a 220 to 110 converter. And the eurorack has mic connections and a phantom +48v button for even more power.Man when it booms,it wakes all the neighbors over here.1 gigabyte kingston ram.And for some strange reason my computer keeps rebooting.I'm running AMD Athlon 2600 and Windows XP Corporate Edition. It's acting pretty strange right now and I have no clue of what it could be.I had this same setup in Germany and it worked fine except for the kingston ram.In the new Cubase SX 3.0 theres a dongle call everytime you open Cubase and from my understanding, the dongle calls are supposed to be short in number. Before my session is finished I have about 295 dongle calls.I have flashed the bios and I was totally aware of how to do it,but still the same glitch.Reinstalls, virus scans, registry fixes,I've tried everything but to no avail.I'm thinkin now that it may be the crappy service pack that came with the OS.Sometimes Cubase runs just fine, but it always crashes when I'm running it a little too hard.I'm thinking that maybe the kingston ram could also be faulty.Or maybe even my new m-audio sound card.Only experienced readers might be able to help me resolve this problem.Cause the next time it crashes when I'm doin a fat track,I'm throwing it off the balcony! There's gotta be a way around this.Signed the last chance master.Cause this one is a bugger.Peace Andre D.(Aufwiedersehen)

4 posts | 49 Posted on 03/13/2007 at 01:08 If I have to choose one I would go for cubase or Nuendo. It has the best quality and it is way more open to recordings than the others. But in the other hand fruity loops and reason have an amazing amount of vst instruments to play with, their sound is decent and it is great for anyone who just needs a "studio". What can we say, we choose Nuendo for mixing and mastering and vst instruments and everything, but the cost is way bigger because of the extra "instruments" we had to buy. So if you want a really one in all choose fl studio or Reason.

5 posts | 50 Posted on 03/18/2007 at 00:25 I've owned every version of Cubase since it was first released as a Windows 3.1 sequencer. Because of that, my learning curve is always cut in half allowing me to quickly adapt to each escalating version. With the exception of Nuendo(Which I understand is really aimed at and superior for VideoAudio production. I personally got really comfortable with VST/3.7 & 5.1, but I'm currently learning SX after buying a previously lovedowned package that was being replaced by Cubase4 by a friend. I've tried other brands that friends have set up and don't find any of they as intuitive. I guess it's going to be Cubase for life for me! Lifes Sweet Torture Corrodes My Soul - I Make Music! |
