Okay, I've been doing some research and I'm a little confused. I have an Epiphone G400 guitar, a Fender Princeton 650 amp, a Compaq Presario 2545 laptop and I want to record my guitar. I understood that I can connect my guitar directly to the mic-input in my laptop but that it doesn't sound too good. Is there any way I can plug my guitar to my amp and my amp to the laptop instead of just using a microphone to record the amp? If so, what exactly do I need to get and do? I tried connecting a cable between the amp and the laptop but all I got was an awful noise. My laptop doesn't have a line-in input, just a mic-in and my amp has preamp out (what I used), poweramp in and footswitch jack. So what's the best way to record with my gear?
